Eric Stanton was the pioneer of the comics for Adults, influenced by BDSM, Bondage and Sumbmisive and Dominant fantasies. He is famous for being the first American to do comics that included Bondage, Dominations and fetishism. He is also a precursor of graphic art in relation to bondage and fetishism. And one of the best exponents during the 20th century.

Stanton is a Fascinating figure, known for his huge influence in Western Shibari. This is due to his cartooning of beautiful sexy women in physical combat or bound. He recognized that his art provided him with a unique satisfaction he did not experience in real life and reflected what he would like in his comics.

Although most of his work represents dominant women and submissive men, he also had dominant men and submissive women in his work. He also incorporated bisexuality, homosexuality, transgender, and transsexuality in some of his last work.

Eric Stanton began his career as bondage artist with Irving Klaw, which earned him underground fame with his bondage fantasy chapter serials. He also worked with Leonard Burtmen, Edward Mishkin, Stanley Mankin, and George Mavety with were famous publishers at the moment.

Stanton also shared a working studio for over a decade with Marvel Comics and Steve Ditko, where his art became a little more transgressive.  Steve and Eric collaborated for many years on fetish comics. Allegedly, Eric Stanton made uncredited contributions to Spider-Man and Dr Strange, but denied this to maintain his friendship with Ditko.

In the 1960s, Eric created a mail-order business named “Stanton Archives” where he self-published and distributed his work in the underground network to subscribers and fans.
We remember Eric Stanton as a Master Artist of Bondage and Fetish Arts.
