A Reason for Shibari

A Reason for Shibari

“I tie their bodies because I couldn’t tie their souls.” This is what an old Shibari master said in an interview when they asked him about his reasons for tying up women and suspending them above the ground. It is also my reason for Shibari. Everybody needs a reason for Shibari.

I’m an ugly man. Women don’t find me attractive. I’ve always chased after them, but I never seem to reach them. I tried everything: adulation, gifts, dirty talk, nothing seemed to work! After a few years, I got sad and almost quitted the idea of sharing a relationship with a woman.

I worked for several years in a warehouse. It was hard work with the ropes, the chains, and the pulleys, but it gave a lot of time to think and dream. Sometimes, I dreamed about how I would treat my girlfriends if I had them. Other times, I would imagine I discovered in myself some special ability, some kind of superpower that would help me overcome my shortcomings.

Surfing the web I discovered Shibari. Since I had long hours for myself, I started practicing there, in the warehouse. Of course, I didn’t have any models or friends to play bottom, so I tied boxes and sacks. I never lost hope that some day I would tie a woman.

My first bottom was a coworker who got confused with her schedule and found me trying a suspension. At first, I felt ashamed. I thought she would call me a pervert and run away. However, she didn’t do that. She seemed curious about the whole thing and started asking me questions about it. Actually, it was she who asked me to tie her.

That’s when I discovered that I had found my superpower. Beautiful women don’t love me, but they love what I can do to them using rope and my imagination. And that’s fine by me.

This is my Shibari story.
