Living Sculptures

I don’t know exactly whose idea it was. But it is clear that we all liked it from the start. We are all part of the bondage community, so, for us, discussing ropes and knots is as normal as another group of women talking about crochet, cooking, or books. Little did I know we would end up doing a garden of living sculptures.

We wanted to do something different, something in which we all participated. Most of all, we wanted to do something where we would really share our emotions with one another. Something to let the others see that we are friends, that we stand for each other, and that we are beautiful.

One of us has this beautiful garden at her home, and we decided we would do the scene there. Two of the group are riggers, so they would be in charge of the rest of us, and then they would tie themselves. As we planned it, we all came up with wonderful ideas about the lightning, the clothing, and even the music we would use. It would not be an amateur thing, but a professional feat, and an artistic statement.

The day came and each of us invited their closest friends. We kept them inside the house, having snacks and chatting, while we set up everything in the garden. When everything was ready, the second rigger called our guests out and then quickly tied herself at the other end of the garden.

The Garden

It was perfect. It was our beautiful garden of living sculptures. Moreover, it was sweet. It really was a declaration of our friendship, an occasion when each of us felt the same as the others, a proof that we had lived so much together, that we could trust each other. It was also something joyful and fun. And by the time the last of us was untied, we all hugged each other for what seemed like hours.

This is our Shibari story.
