Consent Is Mandatory

You can be vanilla, or you can be kinky; that depends on you. However, you should try never to be a jerk. And in the world of kink, this means that you should never, and I mean never, skip consent. Consent is mandatory. Every good BDSM practitioner knows that. And there’s no excuse that justifies overseeing it.

Roland and I used to be friends. Very good friends, if you ask me. And it was interesting because we were quite different, actually. To begin with, he was all into kink, whereas I’ve always been a happy vanilla man. Moreover, he was gay, and I’ve always been straight.

It was no secret that he felt attracted to me. And it was also evident that I wanted us to be friends, but I never went further than that. This used to surprise people from time to time. As for us, we perfectly understood the situation. And we were both fine with it.

One day, Roland asked me to play bottom for him in a Shibari scene. I said no. A week later, he asked me again. And again, I refused. I just didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of someone tying me up, even if it were my best friend.

So, one night, Roland and I got drunk. I mean, really drunk. To put it clearly, I was on the verge of consciousness, and by the time I could coordinate who I was and what happened, we were in a studio, and he was tying me up.

I ordered him to untie me immediately. But he didn’t listen. He said he would only do a couple of knots, and that would be it. And I must admit, that’s exactly what he did. He stared at me for a while. And then, he untied me.

As far as he was concerned, everything was fine. But not for me. I never consented to the scene. And that’s why we’re not friends anymore.

I’m sorry, but consent is mandatory. And that’s how it should be.
