Shibari and Early Experiences
It is common that children, preadolescents, or teenagers get tied as part of a game. Also, it might occur that, during one of these early, casual experiences with restraint and rope, a person discovers a certain pleasure in bondage. It can be an exuberant sensation of having power over someone else. Or the kinky pleasure of restraint and dependence on someone else’s decisions. This is usually an unexpected experience, which is most likely to occur around the years of adolescence. In most cases, people forget the experience, along with many other things lived during those years. However, sometimes, it is the first step into the world of bondage. So, we must consider Shibari and early experiences.
This in no way means to suggest that people should practice bondage at such an early age. What it does mean is that, just as around that age, people casually discover masturbation, sexual arousal, or other conducts significant of the transition from childhood to youth, it can be the case that a person, man or woman, discovers a specific taste for bondage.
Many Shibari masters and professionals acknowledge an early experience which opened their sensibilities to the pleasures and joys lying within the mysterious world of bondage. Many, also, remember the embarrassment they felt for feeling what they considered was a wrong, unacceptable satisfaction.
Shibari is not for everyone. However, if someone finds in themselves a certain taste for restraint and bondage, they should have the opportunity to explore it without guilt. That is, provided that, as in all cases, consent and safety are part of it.
It is also a recurrent fantasy among Shibari practitioners to recreate this early experience. However, the knowledge and confidence that maturity and experience have brought along make it different. It is a variation on age play, and a particularly popular one.
Now you know everything you need about Shibari and early experiences.
