What is a Kinbaku or Shibari Session?

Shibari is a form of rope bondage that originated in Japan. It derives from Hojojustsu, which is the method used by the Samurai for restrain and torture of slaves and prisoners. Shibari then evolved into an erotic practice that involves tying people with rope. That is Kinbaku. So, Kinbaku, although similar, more emotional and sensual than Shibari. Both Kinbaku and Shabiri have become very popular in the last few years. Actually, they gain more practitioners and enthusiasts every day. So, what is a Kinbaku or Shibari session? It is the experience of tying or allowing to be tied as a sensual experience.

A Kinbaku or Shibari Session is a power exchange session through the use of ropes. The rigger (the one who is tying) builds the session on the basis of what the bottom (the person tied) inspires and suggests. A key element is that the riggers understands the bottom’s emotional and physical reactions to rope.

During a Shibari or Kinbabu session, the rigger and the bottom experience emotions which can be truly satisfying and intense. Being immobilized can be extremely liberating for many people. They actually enjoy the experience. They might have a nature eager to submission, where they enjoy yielding control to the one who is tying.

During a Kinbaku or Shibari session,  what matters most are not the final results, but the sensations experienced and shared by the participants. The rope must not only create a design on the skin and immobilize. or shape the body like a sculpture, but the rope is one of the means by which the partners communicate their emotions to each other, it is the extension of the rigger’s hands. Shibari and Kinbaku sessions are a thrilling and exciting experience even for the viewer.
