The Call of Nature
Nature calls me. It calls all of us, actually. But we’re too busy to pay attention and listen to it. We have a bond with nature, even though we constantly break it. As for me, I never reject the call of nature when I hear it. On the contrary, if nature calls me, I go to it. And I always bring my ropes with me.
You see, I have developed my own personal brand of “ecobondage.” It’s essentially the same bondage we all know and love, except for a difference in the procedure for a scene. What I do is this: I hire a model, and then take her outdoors. At this point, I must say that my main criteria for casting is how connected to nature the model feels. Women who are all about dwelling in the city don’t work for me. I need people who like to lay on the grass, and who enjoy smelling flowers and watching leaves fall down.
Once we’re out in the woods, I look for a tree that calls me. This might take up to an hour, but it’s time well spent. You see, we usually take from nature what we want, and that’s it. We never thank it for what it gives to us. Not me. I take my time to listen to the woods, until I find a tree that wants to be part of my scene. If you think I’m crazy for doing that, you’re not the first.
I don’t care. I know what I’m doing, and I know why I’m doing it. And, believe it or not, it works. The call of nature is clear to me. And I can tell when a tree “calls” me and wants me to include it on the scene.
And those scenes are better than anything I could do in a studio, believe me.
