Shibari App
If they don’t like it, that’s their problem. I’m gonna do it anyway. And when I succeed and I’m swimming in a pool of money, I will call them and say “I told you!”. I’m gonna tell you the story of my Shibari app and you’ll see that I’m right.
I had been working in Silicon Valley for five years. I’m a software engineer, and a good one, if I may say so. Half a dozen companies fought for me when I got here. They all wanted me to work for them. And I chose the one which I thought was the most innovative one. Boy, I was wrong!
I haven’t had any problems due to being a woman. If there’s an industry in which gender equality is almost true, it’s this. However, when I unashamedly presented myself as a kink person, more than one eyebrow raised. I couldn’t believe that the people who showed a progressive mindset in many other topics still showed reservations about kinky sexuality.
Anyway, they asked us for a project for a new app. Apps are the trend nowadays. Nevertheless, 90% of all apps do exactly the same thing: connecting buyers and sellers. For this reason, most of the markets are saturated.
So, I spent a whole weekend trying to think about something different. I was looking for a market which didn’t already have a dozen apps buzzing around. And I found it.
So, when it was my turn in the meeting, I presented my idea for an app that would deliver Shibari right to your door. I called it “Rope on Delivery”, and you can use it to buy ropes and equipment, hire a model to play bottom for you, or get the services of a professional rigger to tie you up.
They didn’t like it. Actually, they fired me. But I don’t care. I’m gonna develop my Shibari app and I’m gonna make it work.
This is my Shibari story.
