Shibari Emergencies – First Survey
Nobody wants to deal with an emergency in the middle of a bondage scene. Yet, we should all be prepared to face one, in case it happens. We talked with rope enthusiasts who have faced emergencies during their scenes, in hopes of learning from the situations they had to face. Here is our Shibari emergencies – first survey.
“Things began going wrong quite fast. However, I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to ruin the scene. I felt short of breath, and I might have passed out. Luckily, when the rigger noticed that I was gasping, he immediately began to untie me, and didn’t stop until he was sure I was breathing normally. I guess the lesson is that if something’s going wrong, you shouldn’t wait and say it.” Norma Jean, 28.
“I heard a crack, and I knew something was wrong. My first thought was to protect the bottom. She was a really sweet girl, and I didn’t notice anything bad happening to her. So, I took her in my arms, and I put her safely on the floor. Then, I checked the scaffold, and I saw that one of the screws was loose. If I had continued with the suspension scene, it might all have ended in a disaster. So, my advice is this: ‘the safety of the bottom always comes first’. And this is especially true if you’re doing a suspension scene.” Yaroslaw, 34.
“I saw the rigger stumble. At first, I didn’t worry, but when it happened again and again, I knew something was going wrong. I asked him if he was okay, and he said he wasn’t sure. I told him it would be best if he untied me, so that if something happened to him, I could call for help. So, he used the rope-cutting scissors. By the time he was finishing, he was passing out. I called 911, and in no time, a paramedic was helping us. If he hadn’t had the right tool at hand, I don’t know if we would have been able to make it.” Sedorah, 31.
