Nobody wants to deal with an emergency in the middle of a bondage scene. Yet, we should all be prepared to face one, in case it happens. We talked with rope enthusiasts who have faced emergencies during their scenes, in hopes of learning from the situations they had to face. Here is our Shibari emergencies – second survey.

“We had planned the scene thoroughly beforehand. And we had agreed on a specific dinner the day before. However, I thought that a few drinks wouldn’t make a difference. But the truth is that there weren’t a few. And, by the time I got to the studio, I was on the verge of a hangover, speaking in technical terms. I didn’t say anything to the rigger. After all, I was still getting used to the idea of a woman tying me. And I didn’t want to tell her that I had a headache. So, we began as planned. However, after a few minutes, I was feeling really uncomfortable. I had to tell her the truth. And she decided to call off the scene. They say that Shibari demands discipline. And I guess it’s true.” Nathan, 25.

“Suddenly, I was afraid. I mean, it had been my idea to take a workshop and do a Shibari scene. And I was excited about the idea of being tied. And yet, when it was actually happening, I didn’t like it. I was afraid. I realized I couldn’t move, and that scared the hell out of me. At first, I tried to be tough, and continue as if nothing was wrong. But, in the end, I had to tell the rigger that I didn’t feel comfortable. His answer took me by surprise. He said that I had the right to call off the scene whenever I wanted, for whatever reason I wanted. And when he said it was okay to be afraid, I hugged him with all my strength. You can always say ‘no’, and that’s fine.” Sabrina, 28.
