Alexis D

Alexis D is a bondage artist and BDSM performer who is based in Athens. He was the first one to perform in public Shibari in Greece in 2008. He is currently one of the most skilled riggers in Greece.

Alexis D started in Shibari since he was a teenager. It all started when he watched b-movies where the movie stars practiced bondage. A few years later S/M Comics came to his attention and much later Japanese Shibari illustrations in magazines.

 Alexis D is famous for his traditional Japanese bondage style with sadomasochism elements. He believes his style is the traditional Shibari elaborated in the Kinbaku level. This means there is a stronger emotional connection between the rigger and the bottom.  Alexis D’s style transmits the rigger lusts for beautiful and sadistic rope bondage. This means the bottom surrenders in a “subspace” ready to suffer and undertake the satisfaction from the tight ropes. Alexis D has established his own style with major Japanese bondage techniques as the backbone of the scene, combined with personal patterns and forms as differentiation from others.

He travels around the world for many years until he established in Athens, Greece in 2007 and is a co-founder member of Athens Shibari – House of Ropes. Since 2007 he has performed in the various events in Greece and around Europe.

Alexis D beliefs rise from the full equality of genders, sex and people. He beliefs every people can play roles in BDSM in the same way they play the roles in real life, and that BDSM is just a sexual game. Alexis also believes that the most important ability that makes a good rigger is the ability to build trust with the rope bottom, followed with respect for safety and creativity. He firmly thinks that exaggeration at the expense of safety is unacceptable at a Shibari scene.
