Sam Jay

Sam Jay is a recognized rigger. He discovered Shibari in 2012 and began with the practice, where he recognized and appreciated the artistic aspects of Shibari. He practiced in private for many years to develope his craft. Now, he explores the physiological, psychological and emotional aspects of Shibari.

Sam conducted Shibari Life Drawing in Melbourne Australia in 2012-2013. In that studio, you can enjoy a drawing experience with models, in this case, with Shibari as the theme. In 2016, when Sam returned to the US and re-discovered the huge artistic influences of Shibari with models, riggers and performer.

Thanks to the internet, something that once was only for pornographic consumption, is now accessible to a wide community of Shibari enthusiasts. They can enjoy it either as performance art, a visual spectacle, a hobby or pastime for many.

Sam Jay found his way as a street performer in NYC where he explores Shibari using the urban structures and the iconic backdrops of this amazing and unique city. The public has recognized his work, although it is still a little controversial. Sam Jay has amazing works, which have become known worldwide, the latest and very famous was the collaboration “NYC Street Shibari” with Zero Gi and The Dirty Archangel where they have amazing photography with amazing and very artistic scenes in the middle of the city.

Sam had always pursued to develop an art studio. where he can develop the art form in a setting that allows more time and higher and richer development of images, where you can find also a place to perform, to do shibari life drawing, where you find lessons, workshops, and cross-collaboration of art on art where you can find ropes and human bodies combined in performances and short-lived installations.
