Initiation to Shibari
Zor and Margout, two of the most renown performers in the Madrid bondage scene, will offer the workshop Initiation to Shibari at the Madrid Shibari Dojo, on Sunday, September 24th.
Initiation to Shibari is a one-day course. Its target audience are couples without previous Shibari experience, but who are willing to understand the use of bondage ropes as a tool for communication.
The course takes place during two blocks of three and a half hours each, which is a suitable arrangement for most participants. It will cover both the theoretical foundations of Shibari and its practical application. Likewise, intimate and bidirectional communication among partners will be one of the main topics.
As for the tying, assistants will perform several exercises, which include topics such as tension, contact, anatomy, and aesthetics.
The main source of inspiration for Zor and Margout is the ippo-nawa tradition. From this point of view, Shibari is an erotic discipline. Therefore, trust and intimacy are two of its key elements. The rope is but a tool to shape an emotional response from our partner, and not a target in itself.
The workshop’s goal is for participants to become capable of doing a Shibari or Kinbaku scene on their own. They will also understand the structure of the classical positions and figures. Moreover, they will skillfully dominate the basic techniques, so that they can follow up on their own and develop their own style.
The instructor’s approach is one that honors and respects the Japanese tradition of Shibari. Their goal is to make a faithful presentation of the Shibari discipline, and avoid any cultural appropriation.
This event is only for couples. They must bring their own ropes, preferably. However, free ropes will be available, if necessary. The admission fee is 150€ per couple. And the workshop is designed for five couples only. Wearing comfortable, loose clothes is recommended.
