Untied by a Hero

Princess Moon was as beautiful as the real moon. She was as intelligent as the smartest of the king’s counselors. And she was also as brave as the best of the king’s warriors. However, she had a serious flaw in her personality: she was too curious. If there was a conversation between two people, she wanted to hear every word. If there was a letter on the table, she wanted to read it. It was curiosity that brought about the problem that could only be solved when she was untied by a hero. Here’s how it happened.

A spy from an enemy kingdom brought to the palace a sealed bottle. Since it was nobody’s business, nobody opened it. However, Princess Moon could not see a seal without wanting to break it. And so, she opened the bottle.

The moment she opened the bottle, an evil genie came out of it. With a roaring voice, she tied the princess in such a way that no warrior could untie her. If that was bad, it was even worse to know that, every time a person made a mistake trying to untie the princess, the knots would get tighter. This would go on until they finally killed her.

A man from the palace had traveled a lot because his father was a merchant. He knew about the ancient tradition of bondage. A simple glance was enough to convince him that it was actually quite easy to untie Princess Moon. However, before actually untying her, he asked the king for her hand in marriage. The king agreed. Moments later, the man had completely untied Princess Moon without harming her.

Princess Moon and the man married the next spring. And they had seven children, all of whom learned the art of bondage.

And that was the story of how Princess Moon got tied by a genie and untied by a hero.
