Shibari is Never Offline
The social media outage we had on Super Tuesday, when Facebook, Instagram, and some other platforms became unavailable, was a reminder of our excessive dependency on the web. We have gotten so used to online activities, that it’s hard for the younger generations to think of a world when most people had nothing to do with the World Wide Web. And that was barely forty years ago! And among the many things we can do without having to be online, bondage is one of the most interesting. Remember, Shibari is never offline.
Computers and online tools are great; there is no question about it. However, every day we see research that shows the convenience of not relying excessively on online resources. For example, the benefits of handwriting have been discussed recently; we actually learn better when we take our own notes. Another example, even if reading on screen is more practical, holding an actual book and reading it accounts for a better understanding of the topic we’re reading about.
In the case of bondage, it is undeniable that it has benefited from the web that all the world shares. There has never been a greater quantity of resources available for the beginner. For example, the thorough and easy-to-follow courses offered by Shibari Academy. And many people have taken their first steps into the world of bondage thanks to some content they discovered online.
You can also tweak the pictures of your most recent scene online. And that inclues adding lightning and shadows to make it more interesting. That’s not bad. However, the essence of Shibari still lies in the ropes and the participants ability to turn them into instruments of art.
So, the next time there’s a social media outage, instead of suffering the effects of abstinence, why don’t you take out some ropes and start having fun? We’re sure that you won’t regret it! Remember that Shibari is never offline.
