Light Domination

Light Domination

When it comes to domination, people usually think of someone all dressed in latex torturing someone in a dungeon. But that’s the most extreme example of domination. Light domination consists in establishing a domination dynamic in a couple, which is not very rough for either participant.

For example, passionate kissing is vanilla. However, when one of the partners presses the other against a wall it becomes a clear sign of domination. However, no one would think of this as extreme. Some people like to hold the wrists of the other person during intercourse. And there are those who embrace their partner in such a way —especially during intercourse— that they restrict their freedom of movement. All of these are examples of the kind of soft domination we’re talking about.

Light domination is more psychological than physical. Leading someone to the bedroom is a physical act. However, the domination lies in the fact that you can take the other person’s hand and take them to where you want them to be. Moreover, things like asking your partner to dress in a specific way, or to be ready for you when you come back, are also examples of light domination.

In the case of Shibari, having someone wear a rope dress under their clothes is an example of light domination. Also, wearing a choker in public to indicate they belong to their Dom, also shows it.

Having said that, it is important to notice that there is a big difference between light domination and emotional blackmail. And that difference is the word “consent”. As in any kink relationship, consent is the previous requisite for this particular dynamic.

So, if you are into kink, but you don’t want to assume an extreme position, light domination might be the perfect solution for you.
