Popular Shibari Positions
There are many ways to tie a person. The only limits are your imagination and the physical possibilities of the human body. However, as in any other activity, there are some popular Shibari positions, which have become the all-time favorites of bondage practitioners. Here they are.
The shrimp. In this position, the bottom sits with their legs crossed. Then, the main knot goes from their shoulders to their calves. Evidently, this forces them to “bow”. The rigger ties the hands behind the back. This position provides intense eye contact and emphasizes submission.
The hogtie. This might be the most popular bondage position. The bottom is lying face down, with the hands tied behind their back, and connected through rope to their ankles. The rigger can also force the face up, so as to keep eye contact. This is the most dominant position, but it is also quite complex, so make sure that the rigger has the proper level of skill to perform it.
The leapfrog. This is the most evidently sexual position. The bottom is lying face down, but with the hips raised, providing an extremely inviting panorama for the rigger. Their ankles are tied and the wrists can be tied next to them. The disadvantage of this position is the loss of visual contact, but its erotic power generously compensates the loss.
The armbinder. This is one of the easiest positions, which makes it ideal for beginners. The bottom is sitting normally and is almost free. Their hands end up behind their neck. This is an ideal bondage starter, and it also enhances the emotional connection, since the bottom is able to speak and move, not to mention that they can be embraced by the rigger.
Other popular positions are those that include the tying of the whole body, for full submission, and those which use a chair as an structural foundation for the session.
