Things everyone should know about BDSM
BDSM gained great popularity after the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, where many people began to show interest in these practices and in trying out fetishes with their partners. If you are new to this, here are a few things everyone should know about BDSM.
The ABCs of BDSM
First, it is important to know what the acronym stands for. BDSM includes bondage and discipline (B&D); dominance and submission (D&S); and sadism & masochism (S&M). All these terms are included in this world, but that does not mean that in order to practice BDSM you need to do all of them in your bedroom. It is enough to only apply one or two of these activities to be a BDSM practitioner.
It’s not always about sex!
BDSM does not always involve sex. Yeah, you heard that right. Although sex can be involved, most people enjoy leaving it out of the play and enjoy the bodily experiences that can be very intense and sensual without it. It is just a matter of personal and sexual preference.
Know your limits
Another thing you should know about BDSM is that there is nothing wrong with it. Practicing BDSM has nothing to do with violence or abuse. On the contrary, BDSM requires consent and trust between partners. Boundaries need to be strictly clear.
If you are practising BDSM it is important to know that you can say no. You can always change your mind and use the safety words that were discussed previously in order to slow down the play or end it. In BDSM, boundaries are specific and clear. Communication is very important, as well as being honest with your partner regarding any health issues, triggers, likes or dislikes, if you want to enjoy a BDSM scene.
