Davide La Greca

Davide La Greca

Davide La Greca is an Italian rigger, Shibari artist ,and rope bondage teacher.
Davide tried Shibari for the first time, back in 1990. Helped by a few pictures and a lot of imagination, he tied his partner. Later, in 2001, Davide started studying, and he finally decided to turn his passion into a profession. In 2004, Davide opened his first Dojo in Rome and started to promote his work as a rope bondage teacher.

In 2010, Davide began travelling, first to London and then to other places around the world. He travelled around the world meeting Shibari masters and practitioners, learning new ways of tying, as well as teaching. It was 2015 when Davide founded his path and travelled to Tokyo, where he became Sensei Yukimura Haruki’s student. From that time, Davide’s approach to Shibari and Kinbaku changed, and he began to follow his masters lead and learned a new way of tying, in which emotions and sense play a more important role in the Shibari session than ropes.

Davide found out in his trip to Tokyo, that ropes not only can tie bodies, but they can tie souls. He worked hard and in 2016 he finally became a Certified Yakimura Ryu instructor.

Davide La Greca has worked in Italy, New York, Berlin, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Paris, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Stockholm, and Beijing. He has several Shibari Dojos in Italy, in Pavia, Bologna, Padua, Turin and Milan, where he teaches monthly and hosted major artists like Bingo, Otonawa, Ropemaeks, and You Yoshida. By presenting major artist in his studio, he gives the students the chance to see other ways of tying, even if they can’t travel.

Davide also wrote a Bondage Manual, which is available in Italian and English, he has published several Shibari photography Books and has organized expositions, events and performances, mostly around Italy.
