I’m Your Boogie Man
Ah, the 70s. Say what you want, but they were one of the best decades. Many people praise the 60s, but those were actually years of anger and defeated idealism. On the other hand, the 70s were all about glamour and pleasure—yes, hedonistic, careless pleasure. And when disco music came into the picture, it was pure bliss! “I’m Your Boogie Man” is my favorite song from those years. And I’ll tell you why.
I met Karen at a discotheque. I don’t mean to show off, but I was a very handsome young man back then. You could have given me Travolta’s role in Saturday Night Fever, and no one would’ve missed him. Anyway, we danced to a few songs together. And, by the end of the third one, we were all in each other’s eyes.
I wasn’t just a handsome guy back then. I was also an innovator. In other words, I wasn’t afraid to try anything new, and that included bondage. So, after some months together, I asked Karen to play bunny for me. She agreed, and it was a wonderful experience for both of us. At one point, during our first scene, she told me I had “a sexy, evil look” in my eyes. And she added, “Sometimes, you scare me more than the boogeyman.” Since the song by KC and the Sunshine Band was in the hit parade at the time, I didn’t think twice to reply, “I’m your boogie man!” And, from then on, the name of the song became the keyword for a bondage scene.
You see, in those days, even open-minded people sometimes had trouble understanding Shibari. That’s why we had to be discreet and use a keyword.
Karen and I have gotten older. And disco music is dead and buried. But I still take a rope from time to time, and play the boogeyman for my wife, with a “sexy, evil look” on my face.
