Shibari Nerd
I know everything there is to know about Shibari. I could write a book about it. Actually, I could write a dozen books about it. You can call me a Shibari nerd, and that would be an accurate description. However, I am afraid of putting everything I know into practice. To put it simply, I’ve never done a Shibari scene. I’m all theory and no practice at all.
Why do I do that? That’s a good question. And I even went to therapy once, to try to answer it. I guess it’s because it frightens me. It’s like those young women who want to have sex but are afraid of their partner’s manhood (they do exist; believe me). I’ve tried it more than once. But just entering the studio and seeing the rigger take out all the ropes one by one makes me scared. For me, it’s like those people who get nervous when they go to the dentist. Of course, they don’t study everything available about orthodontics.
Anyway, I knew I couldn’t go on like this. That’s why I asked André, one of my best friends, who also happens to be a competent rigger, to help me. He said we should do the scene at my house, instead of going to a studio. And, when he said that, I knew he was the right person to help me.
The night before, he explained every detail of the scene to me. Then, before doing the scene, we did a long relaxation routine. By the time we finished, I was feeling so comfortable, that I could have actually been with a dentist!
The scene was short and easy, but that’s not the point. It was real! And that’s what matters to me. I’m still a Shibari nerd, but now I’m beginning to combine theory and practice. And it feels great!
This is my Shibari story.
