The Day My Wife Came Out as Kinky

The day my wife came out as kinky I realized how difficult it is to really know a person. I mean, we had been married for nine years. And I thought I knew everything about her. We had thoroughly discussed our past and our plans for the future. We had shown each other our emotional wounds. And we had mutually confessed all the dark pages in the books of our lives. I really thought there was nothing else to discover about her. I was wrong.

She told me she had realized she was kinky by the time she was finishing high school. Now, before I continue, I must say that I grew up in the most vanilla family you can imagine. So, my first thought was that she was a weirdo. Only later did I realize that early experiences are a normal part of the development of a kinky identity.

Then, she told me that bondage was her favorite kink. Once again, my vanilla mindset had always made me think of bondage as some sort of symbolic violence. It was after some research that I understood what a power dynamic is, and how it can actually be healthy for couples.

The day my wife came out as kinky, I was truly shocked. However, she begged me to understand that she could no longer hide her secret. She desperately wanted to do a scene, and she wanted to do it with me. That’s why she was telling me about it now.

It wasn’t easy, but I decided to understand instead of judge. I did some research, and, gradually, it all began to make sense.

Last week, we took a workshop for couples, and we did our first scene together. I still have to fully grasp a lot of things, but I can honestly say it was a good experience.

This is my Shibari story.
