Atypical Sex

Atypical Sex

Atypical sex was first known as sexual perversion. That is, a desire in which you experience intense sexual excitement to “atypical” situations, such as fantasies, behaviors, or objects like rope leather and other artifacts. People now mainly associate atypical sex to BDSM, which stands for bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism, and masochism. There are still some generalized thoughts that practising atypical sex is something that should cause shame. As an example, those with this kind of reasoning think that only man enjoys it. They presume, too, that the submissive suffers or that the dominant forces him/her to do things they are unwilling to do within these sexual practices. However, this is not even close to the reality of the BDSM, in which both dominant and submissive enjoy freely at each and every moment.

Atypical Sex: Misinformation

The problem with this concept is misinformation from society. More people practice and enjoy BDSM than others know about. Some of the practitioners of type of sexuality do not even confess to doing it.

BDSM became more popular with the Fifty Shades of Grey movie saga since 2015. Millions of women around the world, no matter their age or social status, felt attraction to the atypic sex explicitly described in this erotic romantic drama. This favored BDSM; as a result, some of their practices stopped being a taboo.

One can enjoy BDSM in different levels. Both women and men do, no matter their sexual inclination. Sometimes, the experience is more phycological than physical. All the times, regardless, are much more complex than what some people might think it they are. This practice goes much further that what appears in the surface as it focuses on the pleasure that comes from sensations such as power or control. The only one that directly involves pain as a means of excitement is sadism or masochism.

Shibari

One of the different practices of BDSM that is more “simple” and “innocent” is rope bondage. Everything that has to do with ties in an erotic scene fits rope bondage or shibari. If you are trying to experience something new—and, in particular, some atypical sex—I would definitely start with this discipline. Remember, though, that shibari is not as simple as it looks. For this reason, I would recommend some workshops or online curses before trying it.
