BondCon
BondCon, a premier event synonymous with bondage conventions, has left its indelible mark across iconic cities including New York, Florida, and San Francisco. This annual trade show serves as the nucleus for networking within the adult entertainment domain. That’s due to its seamlessly intertwining of education, commerce, and community engagement. Boasting dynamic classes, enlightening lectures, and an array of adult clothing and toy sales, BondCon has transformed into a rendezvous for industry players. However, it is also for the enthusiasts. Founded around two decades ago by the visionary trio of Genesis Lynn, Vesta, and Mike, the convention emerged as a vessel to unite rope bondage aficionados from around the United States.
The Birth of BondCon
With a shared passion for rope bondage, Genesis Lynn, Vesta, and Mike embarked on a journey to materialize their vision. They wanted to do a weekend-long gathering for practitioners and enthusiasts. This aspiration sprouted the inception of BondCon, which burgeoned from a modest gathering in the heart of New York City.
BondCon’s Maiden Voyage
In the wake of the profound tragedy that was 9/11, BondCon persevered. In October 2001, against the backdrop of a world still reeling from the aftermath, BondCon unfurled its inaugural event. This took place at the Crowne Plaza La Guardia in Queens, New York. This audacious undertaking witnessed over 500 attendees congregating within the confines of the intimate ballroom. A constellation of Guests of Honor, including luminaries such as Stacey Burke, Darla Crane, and Eve Ellis, lent their presence to this groundbreaking event. BondCon’s maiden voyage was replete with riveting panel discussions, captivating live bondage performances, and a medley of vendors. Loreover, it included enlightening workshops, and a convergence of website owners, models, producers, and ardent bondage enthusiasts.
The Odyssey of BondCon to Florida
The burgeoning success of BondCon soon set the stage for its transformation. After a triumphant three-year residency in Queens, New York, the convention embarked on a transformative journey to the sun-kissed haven of Florida in late 2003. Here, BondCon underwent a renaissance, culminating in its evolution to the moniker “Fetish Con.” A split with a former business partner necessitated the name change. However, a phoenix-like resurgence awaited BondCon on the horizon.
BondCon’s Triumphant Return
In a twist of fate, the name “BondCon” was reclaimed in 2019, thanks to the visionary efforts of Peter Acworth. This marked the beginning of a momentous union between BondCon and Fetish Con, forging an alliance that culminated in the monumental announcement that Bond Con 2019 would harmoniously coincide with Fetish Con.
Networking: BondCon and FetishCon
Both conventions have etched their legacies as “The Networking Event of the Year” within the tapestry of the adult fetish industry. This recognition speaks volumes about the impact, influence, and interconnectedness fostered by these two venerable gatherings.
In essence, BondCon has traversed two decades of evolution, perseverance, and renaissance, uniting bondage enthusiasts and adult entertainment professionals under its vibrant umbrella. The journey from its humble origins to becoming a trailblazing nexus of industry networking stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who dare to transform their passions into realities.
