Wind Beneath my Wings

Wind Beneath my Wings

They say that behind every great man there is a great woman. I would say that behind every great person there is a great person. Who that person is might vary wildly, according to each case. But is always someone who understands who you are and who cares for you. Someone who catches you when you fall and smiles when you fly. Someone to whom you could say: “You’re the wind beneath my wings”.

In my case, that was Josh. He has taken every step with me, from the days when I was nobody —and they were actually years—, to the awards, and the nominations, and the premieres. My career as an actress and my personal life would not be as good if it weren’t for him.

So, when I realized that he was going to turn 40 this year, I thought about a truly special gift that I could give him. Something that would say in a clear, original way: “I’m grateful and I love you”. And that’s when Shibari came into the picture.

I had seen some Shibari suspensions before. And I had always thought it was one of the most beautiful things you could do. I mean, it’s like flying. And I could also relate it to the song, which is one of my favorites.

So, in the middle of Josh birthday’s party, I disappeared for a few minutes. Then, I reappeared in a beautiful Shibari suspension scene, in which I was a white bird, flying majestically the skies of success. All the while, the tender song that I love was playing, giving the message to Josh: “You’re the wind beneath my wings”

Then, I descended slowly as I got untied, until I finally fell into Josh’s embrace, which is my favorite place in the world.

This might not be sexy or kink, but it is my Shibari story.
