Believe it or not, you can use Shibari for anxiety and stress. You will find it is actually very helpful and fun. Everyone has gone through a period of stress and anxiety throughout the pandemic. Stress, unfortunately, is a situation very common today,  but the way each individual handles stress is different. Some prefer to relax by doing sports or drinking alcohol, while others try BDSM.

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension, which can come from any event which makes you feel frustrated, angry or nervous. Stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or “stressor”. Anxiety, on the other hand, is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear. Anxiety disorders show a variety of symptoms, like excessive and intrusive worrying, agitation, restlessness, fatigue, irritability, tense muscle and trouble sleeping.

BDMS practices such as Bondage or Shibari, were taboo years ago. Nowadays, thanks to the popularity it has gained, and the number of people who are actually participating in BDSM practices, more people have become interested in BDSM than ever before, especially because it can help release stress and has anti-anxiety effects.

Shibari or Rope Bondage can reduce anxiety and increase the psychological well-being of the participants. Bondage has a soothing effect on the nervous system. This is the same effect that yoga or meditation can provide. Actually, during rope scenes, most bottoms feel completely relieved of stress, and they do not worry about anything. They leave their thoughts aside and experience a sense of freedom.

Shibari or Rope Bondage gives you a feeling of trust and comfort between two people which helps you forget the stress or anxiety you were experiencing, and takes you to a relaxed and peaceful place where you are only enjoying and not worrying about anything.
