The Real Rope
I’m a computer programmer. Not any computer programmer, but one of the most innovative. I’m behind so many features that have become successful, that most probably you’re using one of my programs without knowing it. Therefore, it’s no surprise that I am part of a very select team in charge of developing artificial intelligence applications for the upcoming platforms, what they call the cyberverse. As you can see, I had no idea that I was about to confront my knowledge versus the real rope.
My girlfriend and I share a taste for BDSM. Her favorite kink is Shibari. And so, I thought I could develop an app for virtual bondage. I created an avatar with the looks of my girlfriend, and I assembled a database of several dozen knots and positions. In my app, you can even practice suspension and adjust the lightning to improve your virtual scene.
I showed it to my girlfriend, expecting an enthusiastic answer. But that didn’t happen. “It is very boring”, she said. She thought about it for a few seconds. Then, she asked me if I had ever been tied. I said I hadn’t. And she smiled as if that was the answer she was expecting.
Next day, she said she was going to tie me, and she asked me to focus on all the different sensations I would feel. And let me tell you that it was a wave of sensations! I had no idea! First, I felt a mix of fear and anticipation. “I’m going to be tied.” “I won’t be able to move for a while.” Then the touch of the rope, the real rope, which sometimes caresses your skin, and sometimes just hurts. The warmth of friction. The slow loss of control over your body. It was too much in too little time!
When the scene was over and I was untied, I went straight to my computer and deleted the whole Shibari app. She was right, it was no match for the real thing.
This is my Shibari story.
