Mac Mclaughlin is one of the founders of the “Free the Kink” Facebook group. He regularly discusses topics related to the kinky lifestyle in the group, and this time he talked about the chastity kink. “Free the Kink” is part of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF), which is a combined effort of over 140 organizations, which aims to create a legal, political, and social environment in the US, in which people who engage in alternative sexuality have equal rights.

Chastity, in its simplest definition, consists in refraining from sexual intercourse. It is related to restraint, but has a wider range. Restraint prevents only physical motion, whereas chastity forbids all kinds of sexual contact.

Of course, chastity was not originally a kink. It was a practice with the purpose of protecting “purity” and “honor”. Mac also points out that there is no conclusive evidence that people actually used chastity devices. In any case, the point is that, as chastity became undesirable, it turned into a kink.

So, chastity is practiced by using a device. There are different chastity devices, but they all fulfill the same function: they prevent sexual intercourse and even masturbation. Most chastity devices are mechanical. However, believe it or not, there are electronic chastity devices.

The devices can only be released by using a key. This gives the keyholder a great power over the person using the chastity device. That’s why they are so popular for power dynamics. They enhance in a very potent way the sense of ownership that some kinky relationships are based on.

An obvious advice when using chastity devices is not to lose the key. The other important recommendation is to maintain strict hygienic standards, in order to avoid infection or skin irritation, which are both quite uncomfortable.

The complete video of Mac Mclaughlin discussing the chastity kink is available in the “Free the Kink” Facebook group.
